Apple cider vinegar and baking soda combination for hangover cure

The festive season is upon us and should you have the odd tipple or two it can be very handy to have a hangover cure on hand.

The original list of old fashioned cures is from Wendyl Nissen’s fantastic book “Recipes For A Cleaner Life“. Since first published we have added a few more. Here’s to a clear head!

Of course the best way to have a clear head is not to drink alcohol 🙂 but if you do indulge a little too much these cures can help.

Old Fashioned Hangover Cures

Stir a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into half a glass of water, and drink the mixture.

Drink several glasses of fizzy water.

Eat some toast with lots of Vegemite or Marmite spread on it for vitamin B.

Take aspirin and plenty of water after consuming alcohol before you go to bed.

Drink a glass of Sprite. New research has shown that soft drink helps break down the alcohol more effectively in the system.

To settle your stomach have a cup of marshmallow root tea.

Eat a banana before you go to bed – bananas also have a lot of vitamin B, as well as potassium and magnesium.

Eat a greasy breakfast in the morning.

Eat a pile of asparagus, the minerals and amino acids can help to alleviate symptoms and they can also help to protect your liver.

Exercise moderately in the morning the next day.

Take borage oil capsules (available online or at the chemist). The GLA in the oil can help you recover faster.

If all else fails have a shower, go to bed and sleep for as long as you can.
