Are you looking for something to do with the kids this school holidays that is a fun experiment, relatively eco-friendly, and easy to make?
Then look no further. All you need to have a day of slime-filled fun is some PVA glue, borax (which is an alkaline salt), warm water, and non-toxic food colouring if you’d like coloured slime.
1/2 cup Non toxic glue
120ml Warm water
1/2 Cup Water
Non toxic food colouring to required shade, optional
Place 1/2 cup glue into a glass bowl and mix in 1/2 cup warm water. Add food colouring at this stage if you choose to use it.
Next mix 1 teaspoon of borax into 1/2 cup of water and combine well. Then slowly add this solution to the glue mixture.
Keep adding and stirring until the slime starts to come together. You may not need all of the borax solution for this to happen.
Once you have a gooey stringy mass you can start to feel it and discuss what’s happening. Keep working the slime and it will start to change and become thicker.
At this stage you can knead it and then make it into shapes. Try cutting with scissors or adding items into the slime.
When finished store in a sealed container for up to two weeks.
